This Thursday, November 25, 2021, Fevad published the e-commerce report for the third quarter of 2021.

The growth rate of e-commerce still on the rise

French e-commerce revenue increased 15% compared to the third quarter of 2020 and 515 million transactions were carried out online, products and services combined.

The average amount of a transaction is the same as that of the third quarter of 2020, that is to say of 59.50 euros, but the frequency of purchase continues to increase with 14.4 transactions per buyer per quarter against 13,8.

In addition, the number of e-commerce sites is also increasing and is up 13% compared to the third quarter of 2020.

This growth is driven by a 20% increase in service sales and a 10% increase in product sales.

The e-tourism sector is strengthening with an increase of + 48%

The recovery in travel and leisure since April was consolidated in the third quarter with + 48% compared to the same quarter of 2020 but remains however below 2019 by -10%.

Since the reopening of physical stores, the sale of clothing and health / beauty has slowed (-6% and -10% compared to the third quarter of 2020).

More generally, internet sales continue to increase but more slowly with only + 3% compared to the same quarter of 2021.

Mobile sales continue to grow

Mobile sales have accelerated since the recovery in travel and leisure sales by +21% compared to the third quarter of 2020 and + 29% in 2019.

These sales have been accentuated since the first containment and continue to grow by 13%.

E-commerce is expected to reach 130 billion euros by the end of 2021.

Online sales of products and services increased 18% from a year ago.

The annual turnover of e-commerce is expected to reach 130 billion euros in 2021 and is up 15% compared to 2020.
